Blog description

     Over the semester we will discuss and explore socioeconomic factors and literacy learning. Over the semester some ideas that will be discussed are the characteristics of children in poverty, why they struggle, what their key challenges are, what research says about their literacy learning possibilities, and potential learning environments and activities that support their literacy learning.  possibilities, potential learning environments/activities that support their literacy learning. Divide up the posts so that each member of your partnership writes 2 posts.

  Macy has been teaching 1st grade for 4 years and is currently working towards her masters degree in reading education with reading specialist certification.  Melinda is her 7th year of teaching special education- she is currently working with 6th graders in the resource room setting. She is in the Instructional Leadership and Academic Instruction program working towards a Masters of Education with a concentration in reading.
